Farmer Sam is also Pastor Sam.  In fact, the farm is located on the church property just behind the parsonage.  I have been the pastor of Fairfield Road Baptist Church for over five years.  Most of this time I worked a full-time job down at Trinity International University in Deerfield in the Distance Education office of TEDS.  Until last spring I was also pursuing a Master of Theology as preparation for a PhD, when I was unceremoniously declined admission.  Though humbling, the PhD rejection allowed me to halt my schooling and reconsider how to focus my energies.  For the last year I have been spending additional time on pastoral ministry and have become a micro-farmer, and both have been more rewarding than I hoped!
